Officially called Girona Airport-Costa Brava (IATA: GRO and ICAO: LEGE), is situated 13 km from the city of Girona and 100 km from Barcelona, serving the Costa Brava and today is one of the airports with higher growth, as until now it was one of the main operational bases of Ryanair in the European Community.The airport has managed to reach 5 million passengers over the past years and thus has become the eighth busiest airport in Spain.
Girona Airport-Costa Brava has a runway of 2400 meters, a passenger terminal and a cargo terminal. Operative since 1913, the airport experienced a first traffic growth in 1970 thanks to the summer charters; being 2003 the year in which started the fastest growth of traffic due to the arrival of low cost airlines.
