The city of Murcia doesn´t have its own airport because of the proximity of others such as San Javier airport, 45 km from the capital and Alicante airport, just 70 km away. Currently, there is being build the new International Airport of Murcia, in the village of Corvera, 23 km from Murcia consisting of a private airport management, oriented especially to low-cost carriers; the works are estimated to be completed during 2012.

Airport Murcia-San Javier has two runways, of which the first and foremost is for passenger traffic and the second is used exclusively by the military base in San Javier.
