Airport located near the city of Madrid, to the northeast. This is the first Spanish airport by passengers, cargo and operations, the fourth largest in Europe and the eleventh in the world. In recent years, Madrid Airport takes on average 50 million passengers annually, with a slight decrease in 2009 with 47 million and including a steady increase in international flights.
Inside the airport have a base of operations the airlines Iberia, Spanair, Air Europa, Vueling Airlines and EasyJet, among others. Iberia is the dominant carrier moving nearly half of all passengers.
Madrid Airport has 4 runways and the terminals T1, T2 and T3; these three terminals are located together while the T4 which opened in May 2007, is located 2 kilometers from the above, like the last one, called T4-S. Despite the relative distance to the centre of Madrid, the airport has good communication thanks to its efficient subway and its line of private buses and taxis.
